More about this scene

By the end of the Great War the town had lost many of its young men—they had marched away past the Steamer Hotel along Dock Street to the railway station. This photograph shows the pier (left) only 8 years after its opening along with a few bathing huts, although this area was unsafe for bathing because of the deeply dredged channel necessary for shipping and the growing number of trawlers.

Fleetwood 1969
Hello, I'm on a mission here, if anyone can help me. Does anyone remember the Stella Marina that sailed out of Fleetwood in 1969? This was a cruise ship, leased from Norway by a local company, Norwest Hovercraft and sailed to the Isle of Man three times a week and then on the weekend did starlight cruises around Morecambe Bay. Fleetwood 1930's Mrs Mcaffeys Sweet Shop
Does anyone remember a Mcaffeys (not sure of spelling) sweet shop in Fleetwood in the 1930's. The daughter (Miss Mcaffey) was a teacher at St Wulstans infant/primary school in the mid 1930's. I am trying to trace what street it was on as my Dad was trying to remember.

Happy Days
I attended Stella Maris from 1955 to 1965, my peers at the time being Susan Burns, Sharon Crook, Susan Flaherty (best friend), Ann Caulfield, Rosaleen Steadman: Anne Lindley, Pat Langley, Catherine Mansell are other names I remember. Best memories? Fish and chips school lunch on Fridays, tennis on the courts at the park, english lessons. Worst memories? Sister Theresa who was deadly with the back of a blackboard duster ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
