Park Hospital The First Hospital In The Nhs
A Memory of Flixton.
This is Park Hospital which was the site of the official inauguration of the NHS in 1948. Lurking in the
hospital is a wall-plaque commemorating this historic event - I know this because I passed it while
trying to find the Radiography Department a few weeks ago! The plaque does not have the prominence
it deserves - thank you NHS!
Now re-named Trafford General - what a pity that a little bit of local history should be 'hidden'
in this way!
The lawns/gardens in front of the hospital are now completely built over by additional modern
departments, so this view no longer exists.
