Folkestone, The Victoria Pier 1895

More about this scene
The Victoria Pier opened in 1888, and included a 700-seater pavilion. Famous names that performed here included Lily Langtry, associated with the future King Edward VII, and the clog dancer Dan Leno. This high class variety proved expensive, so new leasees introduced less costly entertainment such as beauty contests and film shows.
