More about this scene
The building to the right has been smartened up since 1955, and now advertises itself as Foxton Boat Services, providing boat trips and hire. Today it has doubled in size. Two heavily laden small craft are ready to set sail (centre). Supplying water to the locks was always difficult, and in 1910 an inclined plane designed by Gordon Cale Thomas was opened to ease the situation; however, it was expensive to operate, and was demolished in 1928.
