More about this scene
Much of the quaintness of St Peter's was lost when Sir George Gilbert Scott 'restored' it in 1867. But the Norman tower was unaffected. It is believed that there was once a spire atop this. Just inside the door is a Norman holy water stoup - a small stone basin.
