More about this scene
The last of the Champneys family, Sir Thomas Mostyn, made many alterations to the park including the creation of the lake and a moat around the church. Sir Henry Newbolt the poet, author of the patriotic and stirring 'Drake's Drum', is buried in the churchyard. A large area of the park is now a golf course.
