My Early Days

A Memory of Gilfach Goch.

I remember when I used to live in Gilfach Goch, Mount Pleasant, and the old settlement in the High Street. I used to perform puppet shows in the front room and charge one penny entrance fee, I spent the money in Leslie Belben's shop at the top of the High Street. On other occasions I spent my pocket money going to the cinema, either at the 'Globe' which further up the High Street, or the Workmens Hall, which is situated to the right of the Gilfach Goch bridge picture, good memories. I can also remember my old school in Gilfach which burned down, due to the boiler blowing up due to a defect in the system.
