Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Boyhood Cycling Rides

A Memory of Gillingham.

I have clear memories of cycling along the path which followed the river towards Sharps Green and even on one occasion camping in the promontory. The photograph entitled Picnic at Sharps Green is just how I remember it. Now in my eighties, i do also remember walking along the same track but very much changed. Now living in Australia, I have to ask "Whatever happened to all the orchards which used to line the Lower Rainham Road?". A very sad loss I must say.

This reminds me that there used to be a little tin chapel at the top of the lane which lead down to Sharps Green, I vaguely remember going to a Christmas party there once. Like Eric Billingham I too am in my eighties and unless I am mistaken we were at school together (Gillingham Grammar 1942-49).

G'day H.A. Chesney. My memory steers me towards 'Harold' and ;Ches', but I must admit to being rather vague about this. I would be pleased to hear more from you as I have long since lost contact with the old school and pals. I left the school in 1949 from Form 5G, and started work in the Northern Assurance Co.in Chatham, then volunteered for regular service in the RAF. After many years doing a lot of different things, I ended up in Melbourne where I met and married my wife Ruth, not that we were married before we met of course. I am trying to reconstruct a lot of aspects of my life before I joined the RAF and would love to make contact with an old pal by the name of Bill Forrest. I know that Bill joined what was called in those days, the Fleet Air Arm, but there he vanishes. Any other memories you care to share would be welcomed.
