Friends And Family

A Memory of Glenboig.

I lived in Annathill and Marnoch, my family name was Cairns - they all lived in Marnoch. My dad, Dennis Cairns worked in the pit, the Mullens were my cousins, Uncle Scudger and Auntie Ella, Agnes, Yvonne, Andrew and Allan. There was my Auntie Mary, Uncle Joey and all the clan. I went to school in Glenboig, I have so many good memories it's so hard to put one down. I remember all the good new years where anyone could come to your house, everybody was welcome, my dad played the penny whistle, my mum would sing, guitars were played, everyone had a shot at singing, they were the best days of my life. I always remember Wullie Hand, Gaggi Mullen, Mcpakes, Rileys and all our friends.
