The journey from our home in North Essex to my grandparents’ home in North Derbyshire took almost a full day back in the 1950s, allowing of course for periodic stops along the way. Charlestown Rd

I remember being a young boy attending St Luke's school, playing marbles and football in the playground (about 20 a side I recall)! I lived near top end of Charlestown Road next door to my best friend David Stanton, my other friend Trevor lived over the road.
