More about this scene
Looking south across the River Wey, with a group of children posing for the photographer in front of the wooden Boarden Bridge, the centuries-old crossing point. Behind is the brick Borough Bridge of 1870, nicknamed 'Lunatic Bridge' because of its unnecessarily high arches. In the background is the medieval church of St Peter and St Paul, with its 13th-century lead spire - rare in Surrey.
