The Prince Albert Was So Cosy, Lively And Friendly
A Memory of Golders Green.
A really great Golders Green former establishment is (or was) the Prince Albert pub (later a Harvester Restaurant) which was situated at 290 Golders Green Road, London, NW11 9PY. It was a great jazz pub where people would meet and make friends. Now that has long gone, even though very buzzing and thriving in the Harvester guise. I was last there in 1993 to eat and drink where there was a full crowd and I enjoyed the venue, and I then I noticed the place was demolished by 1995. I could not understand why that was the case, when it was doing so well.
The site has not been developed since and those who now own the land still keep the plot empty even after more than twenty years on. http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/london/nw11_princealbert.html Would anyone in the know including personnel who work for the London Borough of Barnet Planning Department give any enlightenment as to what will become of the land where the Prince Albert once stood? I'm just very curious as to the answer to this conundrum.
