A Memory of Gosforth.

My Grandfather was Henry Robson .The owner of the original business.I am the oldest of his six grandchildren. His partner was Gordon Porteous.I lived as a child at my grandparents house in Regent Road Gosforth. My father was Alan Robson the eldest son.I remember the lovely smell of the dough and baked bread fresh from the oven.My fathers brother Tony had 3 sons.

Robsons sold the best cream slices and custard slices. They were huge. Also their choc eclairs and custard tarts were rather big. Compared to the produce from Smyths which were small and delicate. Two very different shops both selling great products but at different edges of the spectrum
My Grandma used to work there Lillian Plater sometime in the 1940/50s? When she left school. She is 94 now and still talks about it.
