To the west the Melton Mowbray road reaches the town centre via Westgate, a wide street seen here looking north-east towards Market Place. Most of the buildings in this view survive, and even the painted lettering on Atlas House can be seen through later paint. In the distance is the 14th-century spire of Grantham's superb parish church, St Wulfram.
