More about this scene
William Wordsworth lived with his sister, Dorothy, at Dove Cottage, just outside the village, from 1799 to 1813. Here he wrote some of his best known poetry. The cottage is now part of a museum dedicated to the life and work of the poet, who was the founder of the celebrated Lakeland Romantic Movement.
