Great Easton, The Endway c.1960

More about this scene
Great Easton stands on a rise above the River Chelmer, which is here little more than a stream. The church of St John and St Giles is a largely 12th-century structure with a much-maligned wooden bell-tower. Just behind the churchyard lie the remains of a castle: a 20ft motte surrounded by a dry ditch.
