More about this scene

This view of Great Gable is unusual, as it is taken from the north. The usual view of the shapeliest mountains in the Lake District is from the head of Wasdale, where it dominates the scene. The 2,949 ft summit has a tablet in memory of the members of the Fell and Rock Climbing Club who died in the First World War. It was unveiled when the mountain was handed over to the National Trust.
