Great Kingshill 1968 1982

A Memory of Great Kingshill.

Hi we moved to Great Kingshill in 1968 from Edmonton in N London. We also lived in Wood Green N. London.
I remember my first impression of our new surrounds were not great. I suppose moving from London to a village in the middle of no where, but in time I fell in love with the place. I went to school in Great Missenden at a school called Misbourne County Secondary. It was situated near an estate of houses that a few years later I found out was used to house Polish evacuees from WW2. As for the school I loved it as they played football encouraged athletic sports. In London I went to a school called Latymer Grammer and all they played was rugby and cricket. I remember there were some great people and families living in the village and over the years settled into country life although I always missed London.
The most amazing thing I came across in Kingshill was it had a massive turkey farm within the village and as I got older met some great friends who lived on the farm as workers. There was one Portuguese lad , who’s name I think was Joseph Luiz who used to be in my class at the Misbourne. We went on to play football together for Holmer Green another nearby village. My Mum and Dad are buried at the cemetery at the top of Cryers Hill.
By the way my name is Andrew Saunders and if anyone remembers me and would like to contact myself with regards to Great Kingshill my email is andrew.saunders15@btopenworld.com.
Just to add I lived at Rosemarkie Heath End Road HP156HL with my parents and brothers and sister.
