Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

This celebrated east coast resort has been a flourishing fishing port since the Conqueror's times. Farmers' wives and country women have been up since dawn packing their baskets with jars of home-made jams and marmalades for this sizeable market. In the distance is St Nicholas's Church, said to be one of the largest parish churches in England. Just at the far end of the Market Place is the old Fishermen's Hospital, founded in 1702 for retired fishermen and their wives.

Schooner 'flown'
On May 11, 1902 the Sunderland registered schooner 'Flown' caught fire off Lowestoft.

Blackfriars Tower
I also remember this tower as my Great grandmother, Elizabeth Welham lived under the tower when I was a boy. This would be in the late 1940's/ 1950's. The door to her rooms was just inside the archway and you would take one step down into a small kitchen. It was very dark inside, but homely as granny always cooked cinnamon cake which gave off a lovely smell. She made us lemonade made from sherbet. A few ...see more

Row 45
This is Row 45, also known as St. John's Head Row after a public house on the south west corner. The pub still exists today. The row ran from North Quay to George Street. The photograph is shown looking towards George Street. The area suffered much damage from air raids in the 2nd world war.

Snowdrop Cottage South Denes
This cottage was in fact the prow of a boat which had been cut off and erected, almost like a sentry box, and stood near the Nelson Monument on South Denes. There was an article in the Yarmouth Mercury ( 10/11/72 ) which featured this cottage but its accompanying photo was very grainy and I am curious about its history. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
