Growing Up In Greenford 72 86
A Memory of Greenford.
Brought up from age 7 Lived at 9 ferrymead gardens directly opposite holy cross church. Used to watch all the Saturday weddings and the cherry blossom along the middle verges.
Schooled at Bethams, coston girls Then both schools merged together with the Boys school. Best teacher mr Peter slater (the girls loved him) and mr chambers (loved Queen). He used to cycle to school. Long haired and bearded. My class bought him a queen album as a goodbye when we all left for high schools.
Greenford High school at the bottom of Ruislip Road. I always walked to school. That was a trek! Great fun and great teachers

The bridge hotel The black horse. Ealing hospital social club. Near the old mental hospital (now demolished)

Spaceship at lady of visitation (evening On a school night).
Girl guides in the scout hall off Greenford road.
Playing around cowgate road and silvertree Lane. Met my first love Alan Smith. His Gibraltarian family were lovely. The Webb’s. The Alexander’s. The Holden family.
Roller skating was my life - skating around the petrol station near cowgate. Having fun!!
Working in Tescos after school along with loads of other young people and earning money. Worked on deli counter. Pinching bits of food upstairs in deli fridge.
Having my ears pierced in jewellers opp Tesco.
Buying clothing in evergreens for school
Discos.
Watching movies in the Greenford hall.
Pancake chef - never had enough money
But enjoyed their cola Floats.
Trekking to horsenden hill - sitting with bf by side of grand union canal whilst he fished. His mum worked in the Lyons factory or could of been the bread factory opposite.
Ealing town hall and Acton Town hall discos. Roller discos at Harrow leisure centre.
Queuing up to watch grease at the Ealing cinema and queuing at Northfields cinema to see Star Wars.
Part time college at Acton college opposite the town hall.
Remebering Reynolds high school near Acton Town station where my bf used go to school.
