More about this scene

The centre of the village, with its attractive houses round the green, is marked by a market cross reminding us that Henry III had granted a license to Thomas de Greystoke for a weekly market and fair. Behind the cross can be glimpsed the Boot and Shoe Inn, an old coaching inn dating from the 17th century.

A Selection of Memories from Greystoke

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Greystoke

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Not much has changed from this photo to when I drove through in 2010.
