Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

By the 1950s the south front of Gisborough Hall was covered in Boston ivy; it still is today, and looks stunning in the autumn. Shortly after this view was taken, the present Lord Gisborough, grandson of Richard and Margaret Chaloner, decided to move out of Gisborough Hall, which was then used as an old people's home. After the building of a purpose- built home in another part of the town, Gisborough Hall was turned into a restaurant, and following a recent major refurbishment and extension project, it now operates as a luxury hotel.

My First Home, For A Few Days
I don't remember much about Sunnyfield House, except I was born there in 1948. I knew the midwife, Nurse Garfield, who delivered me. When I came to Australia, in 1966, she sent me a homemade Christmas cake, by sea, after months at sea it tasted great, When we passed Sunnyfield Hose my Dad and Mum would point out the window of the room where I was born.

Dads Shop
This was my Dad's shop where he started his butchering business in the 1930's till, he closed in 1973. Both my brother Tom and I worked there. Tom from 1955 till it closed and I began in 1962 and left in 1966, for Australia. In those days we had our own slaughterhouse. as most other butchers in Guisborough did. I am sure my mother worked as a kitchen maid at Guisborough Hall in 1952 when it was possibly a nursing home, Cant find anything about the history in that era. My mothers name at that time was Gorgina Mary Mc Cormick. I always remember a photo she had of herself in her uniform outside the hall. Gisborough Hall Nursing Home
This photo rings back memories of delivering meat to nursing home on a bi weekly basis, In the 1960’s this hall was used as a nursing home and my dad supplied the meat. My memories were of the heat from the kitchen, the smell of nursing home patients and the trophies shot by previous Lord Gisborough’s on their safari’s throughout the Empire. I bet that they still hang on the walls,somewhere

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
