Hanbury, Hanbury Wharf c.1965

More about this scene
The wharf is closer to Droitwich than Hanbury, next to the place where the Worcester and Birmingham Canal (opened 1815) is joined by the Droitwich Junction Canal. This opened in 1854, making it one of the last canals to be built. It linked with the Droitwich Barge Canal to connect the town and its salt trade to the River Severn via the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. It had become derelict by the 1930s, but Droitwich Canals Trust has restored some sections, including the top pound at Hanbury Wharf.
