More about this scene
By the 1960s, more and more holiday visitors were arriving by car as well as by rail. There are quite a number of cars parked in the narrow street in front of Harry and Alfred Kilminsters automobile engineering works (right), which specialized in car electrical repairs. The ice cream shop on the corner is also stocked with plastic beach balls and even a paddling pool.
