More about this scene
The Pump Room (left, 48974) was constructed in 1842 over the sulphur wells. Now it is a fascinating museum, where visitors are encouraged to sample the health-giving water. To the left is Hales Bar, a coaching inn from 1849, and behind the Pump Room is the Crown Hotel, rebuilt in 1847.
