My Upbringing In Hemel Hempstead

A Memory of Hemel Hempstead.

We moved in to a maisonette on Galley Hill when I was one year old and then moved to a semi detached house in Manscroft Road a year later. I have very fond memories of my childhood spent playing war games in the woods, playing cricket and football and fishing for minnow in the Gade and Gudgeon in the Grand Union Canal. As I walk around the parkland and streets of Gadebridge I go down memory lane and become very nostalgaiac. Little has changed.....the housing looks smarter though than I remember with their extensions and double glazing and the distances in getting from A to B seem to be shorter. Strolling around Gadebridge, the parkland and the town centre everything seems to be more compact than I recall but to me the place has real charisma.......perhaps it's simply that Hemel Hempstead is my home town.......I love the place.
