More about this scene

All Saints' church on the left is a wonderful example of how churches can continue to be houses of worship, while changing their role slightly to suit modern demands. The interior of the church has been recently restored, complete with a coffee shop, and is a wonderful example of just how well modern interpretations of ancient buildings can work.

Dancing At The Hostel And Town Hall 1953
Whilst stationed at Credenhill RAF camp in 1953 and again in 1954 I met a lovely young lady at The Hostel one Saturday evening at the dance taking place there. I think the Hostel was demolished some time ago and now new housing stands where we once did our foxtrots, waltzes and quicksteps. Magical times! I loved my RAF days in Hereford. Man On A Bike
The man riding his bike in the foreground of the photo is my father, Albert William Smith, aged about 40. The building on the left is All Saints Church.

Seems Like Yesterday!
I had to pass through here every day on my way to and from Hereford High School. This photo is so familiar it isn't funny !! I lived in the army camp officer's quarter's at Bradbury Lines where my stepfather was stationed. I had to make the walk no matter what the weather..sometimes getting home completely frozen or soaked !

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
