More about this scene

Back on the main road, this is the real centre of the modern village; there is a good range of shops and pubs, and the school, Herstmonceux Church of England Primary School, lies behind the fence on the right, a late Victorian building with 1960s additions. On the left, at the corner of West End, is the Woolpack Inn, which still has the corrugated iron clad function room we see in this view. The garage next door, though, has closed, and is now a pine furniture shop.
