More about this scene
This narrow lane shows exactly how the back streets of the old town would have looked 200 years ago. The upper faces of the buildings are decorated with ornate plasterwork called pargetting, and the residents on each side could almost shake hands across the street from the windows. Always a busy area of trade, in 1933 Honey Lane boasted a jumble of shops selling household goods, including baskets and crockery.
