Heysham, The Village 1895

More about this scene
This charming view of the village of Heysham was taken from the cliff walk leading to Sandylands and Morecambe. At the time, tourism would support the village in the summer, and fishing in the winter months. We can see that the footpath is a well-worn one, so it must have been popular with visitors. The cliffs at Heysham are the first coming north after the Great and Little Orme at Llandudno; they presented the Victorian visitor with breathtaking views over to the Lake District.
