Hot Bath... But Loads Of Fun!
A Memory of Heyside.
I was born in a village called Diggle, but when I was about 4 we move to Oldham, just down the road, as my mum could not stand being snowed in. But as a child I loved the snow. I went to Watershedding School when I first started school, then went to Smith Street School when I was older. I am now 58 years old. Oldham was nice in the summer, but it was very cold in the winter. I sometimes wish I could find my friends in Oldham - I miss them. I live near Shaw flats; my name is Georgina Downton. The house where we lived had no light only gas lamps and a drop toilet where a trap door would open and it would drop down (this happened every hour). We use to have a bath by the fire in a tin bath, but you use have to watch out that it did not get too hot.
