Hornchurch Butcher
A Memory of Hornchurch.
I vaguely remember Sibley's Butchers in Hornchurch.
In the early 50's I used to go in the shop and watch my uncle, Reginald Brett, cutting up and selling meat, offal, sausages etc. For a young lad it was very interesting. At the end of the day I would help him sweep the sawdust floor and he always gave me a shilling. He worked there until his retirement which was about, I think, 1970. He travelled every day with his old Hillman Minx from his home in Acacia Avenue, Hornchurch. Incidently, he still had that car well into the early 80's.
