Hornets Convalescence Hospital
A Memory of Hornsea.
I was in this hospital when I was about 8 years old so around 1966 I have very mixed memories I remember a small girl who didn’t like hot chocolate been made to drink every drop. Many of us used to plan how we could escape from the home.
I also made a friend of a boy my age with very white blond hair we used to sit in the school room together. Like everyone else I missed my mum so much and was pleased to leave

I remember a big room with a massive table an all the kids hairbrushes were on it . they'd call your name an you had to fetch your brush.sometimes my brush would be out of my reach so i was slow getting it i would get smacked on the back of my legs with it for being slow.at mealtimes if you were last you where made to sit a the baby table with a bib on . if you wouldn't eat something they would hold your nose until you opened your mouth and shoved it in an watched to make sure you didn't spit it out . to this day i can't eat pasta . if you vomited you were given a big spoon of medicine think it was castor oil.
