Lampton Road

A Memory of Hounslow.

My Grandparents lived at 123 Lampton Road, Bob and Bridget Wales. They owned the Band Centre in Bell Road Hounslow.
I lived in 53 bell road till I was 5 them moved to Pears road. Went to Alexandra Infants and then Hounslow Town. I remember all the things people have written. The ice cream parlour was great.
I moved to Hampton when I was 8 leaving my good friends Pat Ally and Lynn Goddard.
My email is frances.igoe@btinternet.com my name was Frances Wales.

Everyone in Hounslow remembers Bob Wales. He was a bit of an eccentric character to say the least. Do you remember Arther who used to stand out side the shop playing an accordion? I knew Bob through my father who had several shops in Bell Rd called "The Trading Centre. They could do a series on here about the Bell Rd characters.
My uncle had a green grocers shop in Bell Rd, called Bell Fruits. He and my aunt lived above it, with my cousin Jane. He was a great character, very kind to me and my mum after my Dad died. He also had another green grocers shop in Cranford high St.
yes I remember Arthur although I was only young I can remember him playing the accordian out side the shop, good days the salvation army playing on Sundays.
I remember Rossis ice cream parlour. Lovely. Also the record shop where we placed our orders for the Beatles new releases, had to do that as first issues sold so quickly. The elderly ladies in the shop were very sweet although they did not know the 60s groups they always managed to get what you wanted.
Lampton park bandstand in the summer for concerts and the fishpond surrounded by roses, now sadly gone on our last visit.
