Hoveton is one of the centres of Broadland, and is crowded in the summer months. Roy's family store has grown out of a grocer's shop started at the beginning of the 20th century to cater for the needs of 'Yachting and Boating Parties'. By the time of this photograph, it had expanded to take over almost all the buildings in the town centre.

I left school at 15 in 1953, and like many others of my age went to work at A R Taylors timber merchants. I first worked at the Tunstead road site.
