More about this scene
Little has changed in this view of the brook running through the estate village. On the left, the old bakery is now augmented by a tea room. Beyond it, past All Saints' Church (rebuilt 1860) is Hovingham Hall. This was built c1750 by Thomas Worsley, surveyor to George III. The Worsley family had owned land in the area since the 16th century. At the front of the Hall is a massive riding area for horse training and shows.
