Platts Common

A Memory of Hoyland.

Hello everyone.
I have just registered. I have been searching for info on platts common around 1948 onwards. I used to live in Hague Yard at platts common when I was little. It would be great if anyone as info. I would be most grateful. Lynn
My parents were Jack and Gladys Jones. My dad worked at wombwell Main pit and then Platts Common as a timekeeper.

I lived on Silver Street until 1953, close to Salters' store and newsagents. I delivered the Star for them. Salters was run, by then, by Mr Lindley, who married Helen Salter. This was the fore-runner of Lindley's shop further along the main road. At that time there were several other shops.
