Huntingdon, Fountain Hotel 1906

More about this scene
Although old coaching inns like the Fountain would have lost a certain amount of long-distance business with the development of the railways, they were still used as the pick-up and set-down points for carriages running the local 'bus' services. Next door, one of the early chain stores - Freeman, Hardy & Willis - has a window display which intriguingly blends the elaborate with the chaotic.
