Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

The village lies three miles inland along what passes for a ridge in this flat country between the Wolds and the sand dunes. The church is a curious mix of greenstone and limestone giving a patchwork quilt effect, while the chancel is in brick. The 13th-century tower windows below the belfry are studded with carved dogtooth mouldings. Beyond is the school of 1874, while the foreground is now occupied by bungalows.

The Rose Bowl
We sometimes stayed in a caravan at Anderby Creek. Every day we took a picnic and stayed all day at Huttoft Bank. We bought flags and buckets and spades at the shop on the bad corner in Sandilands. My father used to blow up the inner tubes from the lorry to float on, and my mother always tied it to a washing line so you didn't get blown out to sea. Golf
I used to cycle from Alford to Sandilands golf course, clubs on my back, and stop off at this cafe I recall what seemed to me a fairly grumpy man but civil, I remember he told me Davy Jones of the Monkees dropped in once, I also remember the Minah Bird. I used to walk round the golf course in the morning looking for balls and play in the afternoon and then cycle home, seven miles if memory serves me. Blimey!

Mynah Bird?
I recall many visits to the Rose Bowl Cafe as a small child in the 1960s. We used to walk from Anderby Creek where we used to spend summer holidays. There used to be a Mynah Bird I think.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
