Post Office Ightham, Cobtree Cottage

A Memory of Ightham.

My nan (Amy) and granddad (Fred) ran the post office in Cobtree Cottage Ightham. As a young girl I started Ightham primary school in 1964 before changing to Borough Green primary school in the last 2 years. My uncle's name is on the memorial stone as John Morley though his full name was Fredrick John Morley, this was due to everybody knowing him as John and not to mix him up with my grandfather, my mother Betty tells me. My other uncle George and aunt Marina has some wonderful memories of the village life and could write a book on it. I also remember the shops and garage in the village, and for the last couple of years have had the privilege to attend the service at St Peters and then the remembrance Sunday parade down from the church, and would like to thank all the villagers young and old,for their wonderful commitment to honouring this so well.
