More about this scene
The Granville Hotel, looking like something out of a Scooby Doo adventure here, was built on a spectacular site - perhaps the best in town - in 1891. It was a temperance hotel, named after the leading 19th-century temperance activist Dr Granville, and designed as a mock castle by W H Gould.
