More about this scene
Wildersmouth Beach - named after Wilder Brook - was the main beach before the cutting of the tunnels. Here, one morning in 1817, the Georgian novelist Fanny Burney wandered out onto the beach and became cut off by the tide. Capstone Parade had yet to be cut, and she was forced to wait until dusk to return.
