As we look back up East Street, the focus of the view is the Market Hall. Built in Ham stone (of course), it has a hipped slate roof carried on three shallow arches each side with Tuscan columns attached. It was built in 1813, but may be a replica of an earlier building; or it may incorporate earlier, probably 17th-century, material.
