Major T Reynolds was headmaster of Amesbury School, Hindhead, which was attended by David, the son of Field Marshal Montgomery. In the late 1940s, the Reynolds family were thinking of buying the Miller's House (pictured here), and it was suggested that Montgomery convert the mill across the road into a home.
