Isle Of Grain, Post Office c.1955

More about this scene
Set between the Thames and the Medway, Grain was once an island. Now it is connected to the mainland by road. The village sits on high ground, and unlike much of the parish which sits on more marshy land, is protected from flooding by embankments. It is now much industrialised. The little post office no doubt did a brisk trade, doubling up as a general store.
