This is one of the larger chalets with a garage at the side. Some of the much-loved deckchairs of the period are leaning against the wall, with bicycles for transport. In many parts of Jaywick the chalets are in narrow lanes, but here we see a grassed site with other chalets and a caravan on the left of the picture.

I myself live in Battersea London , I was about six or seven at that time, and I had never seen the sea befor. Jaywick has always been a very special place for me and most of my happiest childhood memories are from when my sister, myself, my parents and grandparents and our dog Sally would have our annual holiday there in the first week in June.
