Kelvedon, Gray's Mill 1925

More about this scene

There has been a mill here since Saxon times - and perhaps earlier, as Kelvedon is believed to be the site of the Roman station Canonium. This particular mill, built in 1850 following a fire, was driven by water and steam. It ceased working shortly before the Great War, and has recently been converted into five flats.
