More about this scene
This is a 16th-century building par excellence, much altered and added to down the centuries; it is timbered, tile hung and jettied, and bears a cluster of tall chimneys. Sad to say, Kennington is not very rural now; it has become ever more just a suburb of Ashford. In 1895 there were brick and tile works in the village. In the churchyard is an ancient yew tree, reliably dated at some 2000 years of age.
