Kettering, Sheep Street 1922

More about this scene
This busy junction, uniting five roads, including Northampton Road and Sheep Street, was lit by a single, central lamp post. The house with tall chimneys on the left was the gable-end of the George Hotel, with garaging attached to the main building; the higher gable with the BP sign marks the entrance to the car park. The hotel faces the Market Place and the church. George Street, beyond, which is hidden by buildings, ran from the Market Place towards Dr Roughton's house. In 1933 this land would be sold and was turned into the bus depot.
