The village lies some nine miles from Hull. Near the centre of the village is the base of an ancient cross, consisting of the lower part of the shaft and elevated on three steps. On the sides are blank shields. The photographer pictured the structure at such an angle that it appeared as if the telegraph pole was mounted on the Cross!
